Office Policies:

Office Hours & Appointments
  • Visits are by appointment only.
    We make every effort to schedule patients as soon as possible and appreciate your understanding as we dedicate ample time to each visit.

  • Office Hours: We see patients Monday through Wednesday from 9am-5pm, Thursday 11am-5pm, and every other Saturday.​

  • Scheduling: Appointments are scheduled by phone only to ensure personalized assistance.

  • Office Manager Availability:
    Our office manager is available to take calls Monday–Thursday, 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Outside of these hours, please leave a detailed message. Calls are returned within one business day (24 hours) during regular office hours.

Cancellations & Missed Appointments
  • If you cannot make your appointment, please provide at least three business days’ notice so that another patient may have the opportunity to be seen.

  • Appointments missed without 24 hours’ notice will be charged the full cost of the visit.

  • Cancellations may be made by phone message only. We do not accept cancellations via email or the patient portal.

Scheduling & Courtesy Guidelines
  • Dr. Shawn is committed to spending the time necessary to listen to your history, perform a thorough physical exam, and provide osteopathic treatment and/or a personalized treatment protocol. Because this level of care limits the number of patients she can see per day, we appreciate your understanding and respect for our cancellation policy.

  • Late arrivals: If you are more than 15 minutes late, your appointment may need to be rescheduled. Exceptions are made for true emergencies.

  • Delays: Occasionally, appointments may run over due to the complexity of another patient’s care or urgent coordination with other providers. If a delay exceeds 15 minutes, a staff member will notify you. We appreciate your patience and understanding.

Fees, Payments & Insurance
  • Our office does not participate with any insurance providers.

  • A Superbill will be provided after each visit with diagnostic and procedure codes that you may submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement.

  • All visits are fee-for-service, meaning payment is due in full at the time of service.

  • Credit cards are not accepted at this time. Payment may be made by cash or check.

Prescriptions & Refills
  • We are happy to refill any prescriptions originally provided by Dr. Shawn, during business hours.

  • Most treatment protocols that include prescriptions require follow-up consultations every 1–3 months in order to safely continue and adjust medication as needed. This allows Dr. Shawn to monitor your progress, review lab results, and make changes when appropriate.

  • Prescriptions are not automatically refilled without follow-up. Please plan ahead and schedule accordingly to avoid interruptions in your care.

  • Our office does not prescribe long-term narcotic pain medications for any reason. Dr. Shawn’s goal is to identify and treat the underlying causes of pain rather than manage it with chronic narcotics.

  • If you require long-term pain medication, please coordinate with a pain management specialist.

  • Refill requests must be made through the patient portal and by phone Monday through Thursday, between 8 AM and 2 PM.

  • Prescriptions cannot be refilled on nights, Fridays, or weekends. Please anticipate your medication needs in advance.
